As a preschool teacher, I absolutely love sensory play for children. A sensory bin is a container filled with rice, beans, oats, or any thing you’d like to use for exploration. I like to make my sensory bins themed around the month or holiday. The sensory bin in my classroom this month is filled with Easter grass, eggs, plastic bunnies, and lots of flowers!
I have been a huge fan of Mama May i Shop for a really long time. I found her on Etsy a few years ago when I was searching for non-candy toys to fill my son’s Christmas stocking. Her products are beautiful and create meaningful play experiences for children. So you can imagine my excitement when I got the opportunity to review a Mama May I shop Sensory Bin!
Mama May i Shop: Sensory Bin
When Jessica {Owner} asked me to write a review on her sensory bin of the month, of course I said “Yes!” I just adore Mama May i shop and all of her beautiful educational learning toys.
Mama May i offers a subscription-based Sensory Bin of The Month Club and I have had my eye on them for quite some time. I personally received the March bin of the month, and waited with anticipation by my mailbox.
As soon as it arrived, I opened it up immediately. I was instantly impressed with the nice, sturdy wooden box it arrived in. What a perfect way to store your sensory bins each month.
Inside the box were all the items needed to create the perfect sensory bin and it was all packaged very nicely.
Included in the March Sensory Bin:
- big bag of dried black beans
- 2 mini wooden flower pots
- 1 large paper-mache flower pot
- 6 rainbow-colored flower pots
- wooden scooper
- 6 rainbow pom poms
- a set of Make A Match Veggie Edition (12 wooden coins)
I took the sensory bin with me to preschool and simply set it out for the children to explore on their own. Some of the children just scooped the beans from the bottom into a pot, others planted the pom pom “flowers”, and some hid all the veggie coins under the beans and hunted for them.
I just loved how this sensory bin inspires endless opportunities for imagination play and learning. During play, kids are strengthening their fine motor skills, hand eye coordination, vocabulary, colors, matching, and more! The possibilities really are endless.
If you are a mom or teacher of a preschooler, I hope you will check out these amazing sensory bin subscriptions on www.mamamayishop.com. They offer 1, 3, 6, 9, or 12 month subscriptions.
To perfectly summarize how one of my preschoolers felt about Mama May i’s Sensory Bin:
“This sensory bin is MUCH better than the sensory bin we have in our classroom already!”
And here’s the BEST news! Jessica was so kind to offer a 10% discount to my readers for ANYTHING in her shop! The coupon code is: LMNOP and you will receive 10% off your entire order, including monthly sensory bin subscriptions.
For further exploration of your sensory bin, each one comes with a Ways To Play Guide and Book List.
Here are some of the books that can be combined with March’s Sensory Bin of The Month. As you can see the theme for this bin is Spring and these books are all about spring, gardens, worms, and flowers!
