April Fools Day is almost here, and I can’t wait to play some fun tricks on my little boy. I’ve gathered up a list of my favorite April Fools Day pranks for kids. These are the most hilarious tricks and pranks for kids, in my opinion.
Many of these pranks are super easy to pull off and will make your child laugh, hopefully! I’ve personally never played an april fools day trick on my little boy yet, and now that he’s 7, I think this is the year I’ll start.
You know your child the best, so choose the pranks that you think they’ll love the most. Try not to choose the ones that you think will scare your child if they don’t like being scared or make them upset. My little boy always cries when he gets startled, so I’m going to hopefully avoid tears.
I hope this list brings you a ton of great ideas for easy to pull off April Fools day pranks.
20 Hilarious April Fools Day Pranks for Kids
In 1500’s France revised its calendar, moving the start of the year from the end of March to January 1. Some people refused to accept the change, and continued to celebrate New Years Day on April 1. Pranksters would surreptitiously stick paper fish to their backs. The victims of this prank were thus called April Fish — which, to this day, is still the French term for April Fools — and so the tradition was born.
Stick googly eyes on the food in the fridge
Tell the kids you baked them a pan of brownies
Make a portable milk splatter and “spill” it on your laptop
Paint their faces while they are sleeping so they wake up to a silly surprise
Dye the milk a different color and pretend you have no idea, even after they point it out
Turn their bath water a different color by putting dye on the faucet rim
Shrink their breakfast cinnamon rolls
Serve them a refreshing glass of juice filled with jello
Pack or serve a surprising lunch
Who doesn’t want an ice cream sundae for dinner? They’ll think you’ve lost your mind!
Take them to the garden to plant some doughnut seeds
Put bugs in their food
Here sweetie, yes, you may have a lollipop right before dinner!
Paint bugs on the marshmallows and serve them as a snack
Pack them candy in a fruit can
Hang a shoe on the wall in between the family portraits
Stuff their shoes with beads, cotton balls, pebbles, or anything else
Serve a grilled cheese for dessert
Send them to school with a sandwich in a moldy sandwich. Don’t worry, it’s just the sandwich bag that’s moldy (yes, you can order these!)
Stick a raisin in the toothpaste so they get a funny surprise before brushing teeth
Tell me, do you play April Fools Day pranks on your kids?
