It’s the year 2015! Can you believe it?! With the new year on us, we’re all busy planning our year ahead, making resolutions, and starting fresh. We may be reorganizing our homes and offices, starting at a new gym, creating a memory jar for the year ahead, making a plan to attack our debts, taking on a new hobby, or even learning how to meal plan.
Let’s face it: we want to make this our best.year.ever.
No matter who you are or where you are, the dawning of a new year means an opportunity to start fresh, a new clean page in our planner…
I’m not a believer in making resolutions, because let’s face it, we break them anyway by Feb. 1.
So, instead of making resolutions, let me share with you some ways you can make 2015 your best year ever!

5 Ways To Make 2015 Your Best Year Ever
1. Make a 2015 Vision Board
Vision boards are a powerful, visual way to keep an eye on your personal goals for the year ahead. It’s a great incentive all year long to keep focus on your goals for the year. They are pretty, colorful, and can be done right in your journal, planner, or a special notebook. When you need to feel uplifted, you can just go to your vision board and get some positivity back in your day.
2. Start your morning with a daily devotional or quiet time
There is nothing like having an hour or two in the morning before the “rush” to get your head clear and just reflect on the day ahead. Jesus is the reason I have such a blessed life, and there’s no better way for me to start my day than spending time with Him. Each morning, I drink my tea and read my Jesus Calling Devotional, bible, and sometimes journaling. In my journal, I write down daily goals, favorite bible verses, inspirational quotes, or gratitudes. If you want to make a big change in your year, I highly suggest taking some time each morning to yourself! It’s really a great way to start each and every day.
3. Have a date night with your spouse/significant other.
This pertains to you if you’re married or dating. It’s extremely important that in our busy lives, we are intentional about spending time with our “better half”. My hubby is my best friend and I love spending time with him, but let’s be honest, after running a business, driving kids back and forth, cooking dinner, paying bills, doing laundry, I’m just out of time and energy to spend time with him. I don’t want to be that way, so last year, we made the change. We made every Tuesday night our date night. 8pm, no excuses. It’s in the planner. Nothing comes in it’s way. Nothing. You can talk, do a bible study together, watch a movie, play a game, or have a pillow fight 😉
Here are some other great date night ideas and a way to make your own dollar date jar.
4. Make sure you get Me Time
I’m going to make this short and sweet: Make sure you spend time investing in yourself this year. As moms {and yes, dads too}, we sometimes tend to forget about spending time doing something we love. Women are built to serve others, and that can sometimes cause us to neglect ourselves. Not this year! In order to make this your best year ever, you MUST spend time doing things you love. Some of my favorite things are painting my nails, taking baths, and reading. Here are some of my book recommendations if you love reading and are looking for a good book for 2015:
- The Best Yes by Lysa TerKeurst
- Restless by Jennie Allen
- If I Stay by Gayle Forman
- The Help by Kathryn Stockett
- Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
5. Unplug and create memories
Whether you are a mom, dad, single college girl, or whatever, make sure you take some time this year to let go of social media, laptops, iPads, and whatever else that requires recharging, and spend some time making memories with those you love. With our crazy fast-paced lives, it’s important that we cling tight to those that matter most, and we’re intentional about making memories that last a lifetime. Just make sure to bring your camera with you 😉
I hope this list helps you make 2015 your best year ever!

I read The Best Yes in one of my small groups and it seriously has changed my life. That’s actually the reason I started my blog! One of her first points is to have you think of the thing you have always wanted to do but “didn’t have time”. For me, that was start a blog. 🙂 Great list!
