I’m so honored to welcome my sweet friend, Kimberly Kate, as a guest blogger today sharing her ideas for some healthy after-school snacks you can give your kids without feeling guilty! So, without further ado…
If your first conversation after school with your child is anything like mine it might go a little like this…
Me: Hi sweetie, how was your day? {HUG}
Kylee {Age 7}: Good. I’m starving! What can I have for a snack?
As much as you want to know about their day all they can think about is food. I can definitely relate, can’t you? I totally remember being a kid, running in from the bus, sitting down at the kitchen table and having a treat.
If snack time seems a bit overwhelming because you want it to be a healthy snack that holds them over to dinner but doesn’t sabotage their entire appetite check out these flavorful options. {Click on them for the easy recipes} Each of the healthy after school snacks on this list are packed with nutrients that are sure to satisfy. I’m even including the recipe for our family’s favorite trail mix in this post.
12 Healthy After School Snacks
Here is our Top 12 “Go To” Snack List:

Try to look past your “to-do” list for the first 15 – 20 minutes when your child walks in the door after school. Sit down and spend snack time with them. I have found that this is such a great opportunity to connect. I call it treasure time, my daughter will often share her dreams and secrets with me, I am eternally grateful for these moments. I’m sure you will be too!
The best part is, these healthy after school snacks will provide them with tons of nutrition their body needs without spoiling dinner!

Yeah,I find too that having healthy options ready helps a lot on getting the right nutrients in. As well, I have been making a big push for breakfast before school. Research showed that that helps avoid cravings in the later afternoon…
Thank you so much for linking this up at The Creative Muster, a linky party I’m co-hosting this week. Hope you’ll come visit us again at http://www.FineCraftGuild.com (e.g. for the ShareIt Sunday linky party)

Rose ~ Often times it’s all in the planning. Breakfast is key, especially for kids because they need energy to sustain brain power for learning. If you’re in a huge hurry smoothies can be a great way to get nutrition in quickly, just add some hemp or chia seeds for extra protein (no one will ever know they are there!).

Love this Kimberly! My son is 14 yrs old and it is so hard to get him to enjoy a “healthy” snack. As a family, we are determined to chAnge the way we view food… I think I am going to try several of these snacks. Thank you. Yum!
