Reading every day is crucial, but especially during the Summer. If you have school-aged children, they may lose some of their literacy strides from the previous school year if they don’t read everyday during their Summer break.
If you have preschoolers or children getting ready for Kindergarten, reading everyday strengthens their pre-literacy skills and provides them with a basic framework needed for them to be successful future readers. As you can probably tell, Summer reading for kids is important, and can set your budding reader up for success!
Our Summer reading calendars were a BIG hit last year, so I decided to make some more for Summer 2019. These will keep your child reading a book-a-day from June 1-Aug. 31. P.S. How did Summer get here so quickly?!
These calendars are free for you to print and use each day this Summer! I created this Book-A-Day reading challenge, so your child can have fun with reading! Each day features a different prompt containing themes, titles of books, or places to enjoy a book. Place a sticker, dot, or color in each square and when your calendar is filled, post a picture using hashtag #lmnopKidsRead, and your child will be entered to win a $10 Barnes and Noble gift card, so they can buy their own book! (This contest is open to any child entering preschool, Pre-K, or Kindergarten in the Fall)
